Principal's Message
MESA Elementary
At Mesa Elementary, we serve students from Pre-K through 5th grade in a nurturing environment where every learner is seen, supported, and challenged. Our school embraces a Competency-Based System (CBS) that recognizes students for what they know and are ready to learn next. We believe learning should be personalized, meaningful, and paced to meet each child’s unique needs. This approach fosters student ownership, celebrates progress, and ensures that no learner is left behind.
Our Code of Conduct—known as POWER—guides our daily actions and school culture:
- Pride
- Ownership
- Work Hard
- Empathy
- Respect
These values are more than words on a poster—they are the heart of how we learn, grow, and care for one another. We encourage families to talk about POWER at home and continue practicing these values in daily life.
Please stay connected through our website and social media platforms for updates, resources, and information throughout the year.
Warm regards,
Douglas Kurzawski
Principal

Our Path Forward
The Board of Education has approved the recommendation that Mesa Elementary will remain open for the next two school years. While this decision means our doors as an elementary school will eventually close in 2028, we view these next two years as a "Season of Excellence." Our commitment to your children’s education, growth, and happiness has never been stronger.
We trust in the process, we trust in our teachers, and most importantly, we trust in the strength of the Mesa family.
